High-level specialised application support service in HPC-powered Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The MINERVA project is dedicated to advancing HPC-AI knowledge across European machine learning (ML) and AI communities, serving as a central hub for cutting-edge European competences in large-scale ML/AI research and development. This includes:
- Training, customization, and management of AI applications
- Access to related knowledge such as datasets, procedures, and regulatory compliance
MINERVA's core mission is to bridge the gap in HPC utilization by ML/AI communities by facilitating the integration of cutting-edge HPC infrastructure into their workflows. The project offers a rich service portfolio with three support levels:
- Porting AI applications and workflows onto HPC infrastructures
- Pre-training and customization of large-scale open foundation models
- Support for open-source foundation models, boosting competitiveness and fostering innovation within the European digital ecosystem
The project's comprehensive framework also includes:
- Targeted training programs
- Availability of datasets, procedures, and software stacks in participating HPC centers
- Best practice guides
- Interaction with AI communities to address their needs
- Development of a Community Hub to unite AI researchers, developers, users, and HPC specialists
MINERVA aims to position Europe at the forefront of the AI revolution, significantly contributing to the strategic objectives of EuroHPC and the European Commission. The project's outcomes are expected to make Europe a leader in the digital age through the innovative application of HPC and AI technologies in scientific research, industry applications, and beyond.
