Call for Demo Proposals

The Eighth ACM/IEEE International Conference on Distributed Smart Cameras (ICDSC 2014) solicits interesting demonstrations of original research prototypes related to all aspects of distributed sensor networks. The demo session aims to strengthen the interactions between researchers and practitioners. It offers an exciting opportunity for participants to demonstrate their state-of-the-art results to a wide audience of professionals including but not limited to: CCTV and Visual Sensor Networks, Mobile & Pervasive Computer Vision.

The demo program provides a highly interactive environment where participants can demonstrate innovative research prototypes and receive feedback from the experts as well as researchers on their work.

Demonstrations of advanced implementations and innovative prototypes covering any of the research areas relevant to the ICDSC conference are encouraged for submission.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

Smart camera and network architectures
Camera system designs and architectures
Image sensing and processing for smart cameras
Architectures and protocols for camera networks
Embedded vision programming
Image processing with network security

Distributed computer vision and fusion
Distributed capture and vision processing algorithms
3D scene analysis
Multi-view vision for Human-Computer Interfaces
Distributed appearance modeling and object
view-angle coverage
Multi-sensor data aggregation
Collaborative extraction, information fusion
Image processing with computational and energy
constraints

Visual sensor networks
Resource management in camera networks
Auto reconfiguration of sensor networks
Wireless and mobile image sensor networks
Multi-modal sensor networks
Learning and information fusion in sensor network
Visual sensor network applications

Emerging applications and case studies
Vision-based smart environments
Surveillance and tracking applications
Distributed multimedia and gaming applications
Position discovery and middleware applications
Context-aware networks
Sports and other emerging applications

Demo proposals should clearly describe what will be demonstrated and how the contributions will be illustrated interactively. They should provide a high level description of the design, implementation and use of the system. It is highly recommended to include in the proposals a URL that shows a preview of the demo (e.g., on-line video of the demo, screenshots, etc.).

Formatting and Submission Guidelines

All submitted demo proposals must be formatted according to ICDSC’s submission guideline and must be no longer than three (3) pages. This page limit includes paper title, authors and affiliation, abstract, body, screenshots, and bibliography. Accepted demo proposals will appear in the final ICDSC 2014 proceedings. Submissions in PDF should be uploaded to the conference submission website under the demo track.

Review process

Demo proposals will be selected based on (a) the novelty and originality of the demo and the underlying research, (b) the technical quality of the proposed implementation, and (c) the breadth of the applicability and attractiveness. Please note that at least one author of each accepted demo presentation must register for the conference and present the demo.
