Rerum Novarum, Interactive Exploration of Illuminated Manuscript is a project of interactive exploration of artistic digital libraries of illuminated manuscripts. The project of Imagelab (University of Modena and Reggio Emilia) is co-funded by Franco Cosimo Panini S.p.a. and Regione Emilia Romagna (PRRIITT project 2009-2011) and sponsored by Biblioteca Estense Universitaria of Modena.
The project focuses on the design and implementation of a new generation of multimedia systems for analysis, search, retrieval and virtual browsing for images and text in illuminated codes with natural interfaces (touch screens and large installations) and collaborative tagging.
The system will allow a new browsing experience and exploration of Renaissance masterpieces for experts, users and art lovers.
