PhD's Garage associated to the 1st Short Spring School on Surveillance

The PhD's Garage is a initiative of the S4 school (http://imagelab.ing.unimore.it/s4/)
dedicated to PhD students and young scientists whose research focuses on Video
Surveillance.
The PhD's Garage will offer the participants the opportunity to present,
discuss, and receive feedbacks on their research in a constructive and collegial
atmosphere. Posters containing preliminary results of high quality research will
be hung in the S4 location during all the event time. Coffee breaks will be the
main occasion to start profitable exchanges among presenters and the invited
speakers of the school, that could continue at the dinner time.
The PhD's garage It is especially intended for PhD students who have already
settled on a specific research proposal and have some preliminary results, but
still have enough time remaining before submitting their dissertation so that
they can benefit from the feedbacks.
The PhD's Garage will take place since the first S4 school day and last for all the event
time (May 17-19, 2011).
The PhD's Garage language is English.

Submission Guidelines
Students willing to participate to the PhD's Garage must submit an abstract describing their doctoral work. The abstract should not exceed 3 pages in the LNCS conference proceedings style and must cover the following aspects:
- A clear formulation of the surveillance research topic;
- A description of the proposed approach and its expected contributions;
- A summary of the (expected) results, including their (proposed) evaluation method;
The abstract must be submitted electronically to the S4 PhD Chair
(marco.cristani@univr.it) in PDF format. Submissions will be judged on
originality, significance, technical merit, presentation quality and relevance
to the event topics. By submitting a contribution students accept that they have
to register to the school and attend the event.
Failure to register or to attend will entail removal of their submission even if
formally accepted.
The students of the accepted papers will be asked to prepare a poster to be hung
during the S4 event.
