People Re-identification

People re-identification aims at finding multiple instance of the same person on images or videos based on appearance features. Imagelab attempted to solve the re-identification problem by means of 3D body models, that provide a spatial support for the appearance features.

The main contributions provided by Imagelab on People Re-identification are:

• A complete survey on appearance based methods for re-identification (see publications below)
• New approaches based on 3D models. In particular, a non articulated model (called SARC3D) and a Kinect-based articulated model have been proposed and tested.
• Multi-video datasets for People Re-identification with videos from calibrated cameras:
  • 3DPeS
  • Sarc3D
